Introduction:
Welcome to Real Sense!, we're diving into a comprehensive review of the Dreo air circulator fan, specifically the CF511S model. I bought this fan with my own money, and after using it daily, it has earned its place as my favorite fan. Today, I'll walk you through its standout features and explain why I'm so impressed.
Remote Control and Base:
Let's start with the fan's user-friendly remote control. This compact device boasts various functionalities, including power on/off, speed adjustment, mode selection, mute, oscillation control, and a timer. The remote fits neatly on the fan's base, which is no ordinary base. It's designed to rotate along with the fan, giving it a unique and almost mesmerizing gliding effect. Additionally, the base features a touch-sensitive control panel, a feature I typically avoid but appreciate in this context. It allows for quiet and discreet adjustments during the night, without disturbing anyone. The integrated screen on the panel displays essential information such as fan speed, mode, and even a Wi-Fi connection indicator, which we'll explore later in this review.
Oscillation and Adjustability:
One noteworthy feature of this fan is its horizontal oscillation, which you can easily toggle on and off. However, vertical adjustments require manual positioning, with predefined positions for convenience. Personally, I prefer the horizontal orientation for my sleep, but if vertical oscillation is your preference, there's another model available that offers this feature.
Maintenance: Maintenance is a breeze with this fan. A simple screw on the bottom unlocks the fan cover, allowing you to clean the blades and inner components easily. Like any fan, it can accumulate dust over time, but the design makes cleaning a straightforward task.
Smart Features and App Control: Now, let's talk about my favorite feature – its smart capabilities. You can connect this fan to a dedicated app, offering seamless control of its functions. The connection is impressively responsive, almost instantaneous. The app itself is user-friendly, with an intuitive layout. It provides access to standard functions, including natural and sleep modes. The natural mode simulates wind by varying fan speed, a feature I don't particularly use. On the other hand, the sleep mode minimizes noise with the slowest fan speed, ideal for a peaceful night's sleep. You can also control oscillation and fan speeds through the app. Customization options allow you to turn off the beeping sound and disable auto display-off, which maintains the panel's illumination throughout the night. Personally, I prefer it off during my sleep. The app even enables you to program a schedule, so your fan operates at specific times and for set durations. Best of all, you can connect it to Google Assistant or Alexa for effortless voice control.
Syncing with Nest
Thermostat: Another impressive feature is its compatibility with the Nest thermostat through custom settings. This integration allows the fan to circulate air when your AC turns on, helping your room reach the desired temperature faster.
Fan Power and Wind Reach:
Dreo claims that the fan's wind can reach up to 70 feet, and I can attest to its power. At its maximum setting, it can even move sturdy blackout curtains with ease.
Noise Level:
One key consideration for a bedroom fan is noise level. Fortunately, this fan is impressively quiet, making it perfect for sleeping. However, there is one minor drawback – occasional rattling noise. While it's not constant, it's worth mentioning, especially for light sleepers.
Overall Impression:
In conclusion, I'm genuinely thrilled with this fan, especially considering its affordable price point ($69 for Silver, and $79 for the Gold). While I opted for the gold version due to my wife's preference, I'd recommend the gray option for its value.
